A frightful Thomson & Bancks bake off

November 8, 2024

To honour Halloween, the team at Thomson & Bancks kicked off the season with their annual Bake Off, featuring an array of ghastly and delightful confections. Last year, the team raised money for an incredibly vital cause, the West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC), but this year the creepy creations were in service of a different charitable cause – raising funds for Breast Cancer Now.

On 31st October, team members across the three Thomson & Bancks offices showcased their baking skills with an impressive spread of Halloween-themed cakes, cookies, and other treats. The bakes were judged solely on appearance, as the eerie edibles were displayed for all to admire.

The votes were counted and then recounted, as it was a very tight call! In the end, the top three spooktacular bakes were:

  1. Monster Mouth by Gina Lessimore, who took home a spooky pancake mix, maple syrup, and hot chocolate.

  1. Area Fiftytum by Sam Hawkins, who won a spooky pancake mix and whisk.
  1. Braindead by Suzanne Hulett, who won a spooky pancake mix.

But the real prize was the funds raised for Breast Cancer Now, a leading breast cancer research charity in the UK. Through the donation of cakes and the sale of the scary sweets, the Thomson & Bancks team managed to raise £71 for this important cause. This will add to the £1,550 raised for the Tour de Law last month.
