At the heart of Thomson & Bancks for 20 years

On 16th September 2002, a very vibrant character, Sylvia Gillham, joined Gordon Bancks & Co, a predecessor of Thomson & Bancks in Pershore. Working as a newly qualified Solicitor in the residential property department, Sylvia soon established herself as a client and staff favourite.

Putting the needs of her clients first, Sylvia’s work ethic truly reflects the ethos of the firm ‘You matter to us’ and her hard work did not go unnoticed, as she was offered Partnership in 2007. Now heading up a team of 20 across all four of the Thomson & Bancks offices, Sylvia not only still puts the needs of her clients first but also her team.

Although Sylvia is extremely busy, she always has a smile to share and is a fabulous presence to have around, and she is always first on the dance floor at the office Christmas party!

Fellow Partner of Thomson & Bancks, Angela Scott, who celebrated 30 years at the firm this year, commented “It has been an absolute pleasure to know and work with Sylvia all these years. She brings sunshine to a rainy day!”.

Sylvia has been at the heart of Thomson & Bancks for two decades and hopefully will be for another two, although that thought probably scares her a little.

When Sylvia was presented with a small gift to mark the occasion by Chairman of Thomson & Bancks Jonathan Davies, she said “The last 20 years have seen much change for me both at work and at home. I have progressed from being a fresh faced newly qualified solicitor to Partner and Head of a thriving Property Department, operating over 4 offices.

Simultaneously it seems, I have got married and had two super children too!

To say the time has flown by is an understatement but my time at T&B has been, and continues to be, fulfilling and enjoyable, largely down to our wonderful hardworking and good-humoured staff, both past and present, and of course our loyal clients.”
