Helping local Gloucestershire Care Homes

April 29, 2020

Family Solicitor Chrys Wall’s good friend, Lucy Chant put a plea out on Facebook a few days ago for the supply of face masks for local Care Homes.

Lucy is the Care Manager at Parton House Care Home in Gloucester and due to the home running extremely low with stock, Lucy made the call for help on Facebook. Lucy said that “…anyone’s help would be much appreciated.

Chrys’ sister, Zena also works in a care home, as a chef at the Cedar Trust Care Home in Tewkesbury. Chrys has completed previous fundraising events for Cedar Trust and was keen to apply the same thoughtfulness to Lucy request for Parton House.

Chrys put her thinking cap on and asked, “What contacts do I have?!”

Whilst Thomson & Bancks are still providing quality legal services with many staff working from home, some have been furloughed. Chrys remembered that her colleague and administration assistant Kate Rose, was making scrub bags and headbands for NHS Staff, putting her furloughed time to amazing use.

Naturally, Chrys thought, “I wonder if Kate could make these masks?

Whilst she hadn’t ever made face masks, Kate’s immediate response was to go for it, happy to help in any way she could.

Here are the wonderful results…

Kate has very kindly made 20 masks for Cedar Trust Care Homes and whilst they may not be medical masks, Lucy’s reaction at Cedar Trust was very positive:

“They are fab! I am very grateful for any face masks we can get during these difficult times”.

Kate’s production line continues (although if anyone has any elastic that they can donate – this would be greatly received!)

Keep up the good work for our NHS and care home heroes Kate!
