Partying fur a good cause

September 15, 2017

If you go down to the woods you’re sure of a big surprise…

But if you go down to the Eckington Recreation Centre, you’ll probably find left over cake crumbs and a bunch of discarded wellies. Why? Last Saturday, 9th September, was our Teddy Bear’s Picnic staff social and fundraiser, of course!

As part of National Star’s 50 parties for 50 years, Thomson & Bancks pitched in and got our paws dirty in aid of a good cause. The day was full of traditional party games including pass the parcel, musical chairs and pin the tail on the donkey. There was also a piñata, bouncy castle and the infamous welly wanging.

To add to the fun, we held a teddy bear mask decorating competition with face painting. A big thanks is in order to Commercial Group who donated items for prizes. But the real highlight was the food. Sandwiches from Tewkesbury’s Tasty Bites, a T&B coloured teddy bear cake, and Jelly and blancmange. Sorry Winnie, no honey!

National Star is a fantastic organisation that make a real difference to the lives of people with disabilities. We were extremely pleased to have raised a total of £125.21 for an amazing cause.
