Su Powell celebrates 20 years at T&B

As we are about to start a new year thinking of all the wonderful things we would like to achieve and looking back on what we have accomplished (and how many resolutions we broke so quickly) in the last 12 months, at Thomson & Bancks, we are looking back a bit further to 30th December 2002 when the Tewkesbury office, then Thomson & Badham, welcomed Legal Cashier, Su Powell to the team.

There have been many changes to accounting procedures and the firm over the last 20 years and Su has seen and helped with them all. From changing from Thomson & Badham and Gordon Bancks & Co to Thomson & Bancks, then becoming an LLP and for a while joining the Quality Solicitors network, the migration between different IT systems, opening a third office in Cheltenham and welcoming Stratford-upon-Avon’s Davies Murray-White to the Thomson & Bancks family. These changes would not have been managed successfully without the support and knowledge of Su Powell and the whole accounts team!

Not only is Su a whizz in accounts, but she and her family have done an incredible job planting baskets and maintaining the garden at our Tewkesbury office over the years. You may have been lucky enough to see the garden in full bloom if you have attended a meeting in the garden room. At times of covid risk the garden itself was our most useful meeting space.

Having lived and worked in Tewkesbury Su knows a great deal about people and businesses in the town and is a wonderful source of local information. Presenting Su with a small gift as a token of the firm’s gratitude for all her hard work, Managing Partner Paul Johnson said “I and all my Partners throughout the years have been impressed by Su’s integrity and loyalty.  She also has an uncanny ability to see through a matrix of accounting numbers to fix errors and imbalances that clients and others have missed”.

When celebrating her 20 years of loyal service to the firm, Su commented “Heartfelt thanks to staff and partners at Thomson & Bancks for recognising my 20 year anniversary. I will enjoy spending my vouchers in Pretty Special.”.
