Chrys takes on the 60-mile Thames Path Challenge

August 31, 2018

Our resident Legal Executive Chrys Wall is undertaking another walking challenge, an incredible 60 miles, to raise money for Cedar Trust Care Homes.

The Thames Path Challenge dwarfs Chrys’ previous charity walk, which was an already-impressive 23 miles. She will be setting off, along with her sister Zena, at 7:00 am on the 8th of September – and continuing through the day into the night. The walk will take them, with rest stops included, from 25 to 30 hours!

Cedar Trust is a particularly important cause for both sisters, as it is also Zena’s workplace. For over 30 years, they have been caring for Gloucestershire retirees. Their aim from the start has been “to look after everyone in a warm, compassionate, safe and friendly environment”. As such, the money raised will be spent out on days out for the residents.

Chrys’ previous walk, which raised money for Maggie’s Cancer Centre, covered 23.04 miles in 7 hours, 33 minutes. She has a fantastic track record as a fundraiser, and we want to support her in her latest charity venture.

UPDATE: Chrys and her sister have successfully completed their walk! Here are Chrys’ comments:

“Thank you all for your support during the weekend and encouraging both myself and Zena to carry on.  It was very hard (in the words of some other walkers “it was brutal”) at times emotionally and physically and it was certainly an “ultra challenge”.   Legs were in good working order as were the hips but it was the feet and the blisters which caused us both problems (along with many other walkers) and so we became at the end “The Walking Wounded Wall Sisters”!!).

However, we did the challenge of 100km (63 miles) which took us 30hrs:22minutes!!!!

Thank you for all your sponsorship which I will collect shortly.”
